I often use a ceramic tile to bake my polymer clay pieces on. At the recommendation of Ginger of TheBlueBottleTree.com, I've switched to a metal baking pan. It is just the right size for my little oven and it heats more quickly than the ceramic tile. It's also easier to "tent" with foil.
